The units we sell require your cable provider to add the unit to their system before it can be activated. Our warranty covers HARDWARE issues and we are not responsible billing system issues such as lack of EPG, menu or refusal of your provider to activate the unit.
For more information please review our activation instructions & return policy.
See below to determine which units are compatible with your provider.
Whether or not is legal for cable providers to deny you the right to use your own equipment we can not say with any certainty. However it is possible that it would come under Abuse of Monopoly if they refuse to do so.
Cogeco, Rogers & Shaw will only activate units that are in their system. We carry a limited selection of units for Shaw, but are unlikely to have units for Cogeco or Rogers.
Eastlink (Coast, Delta, Persona) may still activate 3rd party units, but as of Sept. 2015 they seem to have impaired the functionality of the DCX units at a minimum. People have reported lack of channels, no DVR, among other errors. As such we are no longer able to guarantee a unit you purchase from us will be fully compatible with their service.
USA:
If your provider uses Cisco / SA units, you will not be able to use any of these units.
For DCH & DCX models your provider may require you to rent an MCARD from them before they will activate the unit.
For more information on obtaining an MCARD, please see this info from the FCC.
Verizon FIOS customers can use the DCX3501. It is likely that the other DCX models also work on their system.
Charter, Comcast, Mediacom, Time Warner, etc can use any DCX model. For other providers, please contact your local cable provider to determine which models they use.

These units are HD, but use older MPEG-2 technology. Depending on your provider, they may no longer receive or only receive limited HD channels. The new MPEG-4 DCX units will allow you to receive all HD channels you subscribe to.
-
When used with a PVR expander, the unit becomes a dual tuner PVR.
-
For DCX 700, 3200 (P1 & P2) & 3400 not all units are MR compatible (-M or MOCA). Please refer to the products configuration options if you require this feature.
-
Most units have multiple price points & configurations that are not available through your provider (e.g. hard drive size up to 2TB). Please do not add the item to your cart w/o reviewing the available configurations.
-
You do not require a technician to install the unit unless you require a new outlet. The technician does not care what model you have, where you bought the unit, etc.
-
All DVR / PVR units are dual tuner (ie. you can record two programs at once) unless otherwise noted. DCX36XX, Arris MG522G (Access EVO, Eastlink Maestro & Shaw Gateway) can record SIX programs at once.
* For DCX 700, 3200 (P1 & P2) & 3400 not all units are MR compatible (-M or MOCA). Please refer to the products configuration options if you require this feature.
If your provider is not listed above, please contact us to determine if we have a unit for your provider.
