Cable Box Activation

Before you can activate your cable receiver you need to take down some information off of the unit.

HOST SN
MCARD SN
MCARD UA

For customers in the US you may need to replace the MCARD before your provider will activate.

SN are 12 digits & UA are 16 digits.  This info is usually found on the rear of the receiver for most units and can also be found in the system diagnostic menu.

Power off the unit, hit OK / select on your remote right away. This will bring up a diagnostic menu, scroll down to D05. For Pace units this should be in option 9.

Once you have all this information, please call your provider for activation.

Time Warner Atlas Remote

Time Warner Atlas remotes need to be reprogrammed before they will operate the cable receiver:

CBL device is locked. To unlock it:

  • Press CBL key
  • Press and hold SETUP unit CBL binks twice
  • Type 982 if it blinks four times, now it's unlocked and you can do the next step to set to it to 1376. If it blinks twice, that means it was unlocked and now is locked, and you need to do the step above again to unlock it again.

Assign device code 1376 to the CBL device key:

  • Press CBL key
  • Press and hold SETUP until CBL blinks twice
  • Type 1376

Some remotes may use 01376.  If you have a Pace X1 it uses the code 1982.

Configuration instructions for other models can be found at the Motorola DVR Wiki

MCARD

Sometimes you may need to replace the original MCARD with one from your provider (typically in the USA).

  1. Before you replace the MCARD, take down the DATA & HOST ID which can be found in the system diagnostic menu. Power off the unit, hit OK / select on your remote right away. This will bring up a diagnostic menu, scroll down to D05. For Pace units this should be in option 9.
  2. Once you obtain your replacement MCARD write down the SN / UA off of the card, and replace the one that came with the unit.
  3. Call your provider to have them pair the replacement MCARD with the unit and then activate. Most of the larger cable providers have dedicated phone numbers for cable card pairing.

The FCC requires USA providers are required to provide you an MCARD if you request one.  See this link for more information.

If you have a problem, please contact us before requesting an RMA.
